[Also in Division F1] A pressure operated piston 17, having a socket 26 for receiving the electrode of a welding gun, is slidable in a cylinder 10 and is prevented from rotating by an axially offset guide rod 18 passing through a bore 19 in a partition 20 and connected to a second piston 16. An outward stroke of the pistons 16, 17 is accomlished by pressurization of a chamber 32, connected by a longitudinal passage 24 in the guide rod 18, to a chamber 21 between the partition 20 and the piston 17. The pistons are returned by supplying pressure fluid to a socket 23 in the partition 20 connected to a chamber 22 between the piston 16 and the partition 20.
