Abstract

1,147,977. Cartons. GALLAHER Ltd. 29 Nov., 1967 [2 Dec., 1966], No. 54038/66. Heading B8P. A display carton has inclined front and rear walls 6, 7 and an inclined false bottom 20 whereby displayed packages 29 do not topple forwards after some have been removed. The carton shown is formed from a single cardboard blank, the walls 6, 7 and side walls 8, 9 being joined by parallel crease lines and the wall 7 having a tab 10 which is glued to wall 9. Each wall panel carries a flap 11, these flaps being locked together and glued to form the bottom. The false bottom is formed from a flap 13 attached to the front wall 6. The carton is supported by a tab 30 cut out from the rear wall 7, and a closure flap 25, attached to this wall, may be folded round the packages and tucked behind the front wall as shown in Fig. 3. When the carton is opened, the flap 25 may be bent back about line 27 and tucked in behind the packages, the visible part of this flap then forming part of the display. The flap 25 may be replaced by a viscose wrapper. In another alternative (Fig. 5, not shown), the false bottom is formed by a separate wedge of expanded polystyrene.
