Abstract

1,147,577. Windscreen wipers. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 21 Feb., 1968 [28 Feb., 1967], No. 8397/68. Heading A4F. [Also in Division C3] An automobile windscreen wiper blade made out of "bloomed" vulcanised ethylene-propylene terpolymer rubber has its wiping surface coated with graphite whereafter the resultant coating is heated at a temperature and time sufficient to modify the frictional characteristics of the said surface and insufficient to effect degradation of the elastomer. The "bloom" is caused by materials that are soluble in the rubber at curing temperature but are insoluble at room temperature, notably tetramethyl thiuram monosulphide.
