Abstract

1,146,804. Donning and doffing. ZINSER TEXTILMASCHINEN G.m,b.H. 29 Sept., 1967 [29 Sept., 1966]. No. 44598/67. Heading DID. Doffing and donning apparatus comprises a series of vertically movable carriages 30, a series of second carriages 32 each horizontally movable on a carriage 30 and each carrying tube gripping means 28, pins 36 on endless chains 35 each engaging a carriage 32 so that as a reversible drive wheel 39 moves the chain, carriages 30, 32 are raised or lowered and when pin 31 passes about guide wheel 41 carriage 32 is moved horizontally. In operation tube gripping means 28 are moved from the rest position shown in Fig. 6 by chain 35 so that the tube gripping means engage full bobbins 14. The chain drive is then reversed to remove the full bobbins and then lower them to bobbin receiving means (24') see Fig. 1, not shown, on a conveyor running parallel to the machine. The chain drive is again reversed to raise gripping means 28 to leave the full bobbins on the conveyor which is then moved through half a spindle spacing to bring empty tubes 15, see also Fig. 1, beneath the gripping means the gripping means are then lowered, engage tubes 15, are raised and carried over the empty machine spindles onto which they are lowered. The gripping means are then returned to rest position of Fig. 6. The conveyor (17) Fig. 1, not shown, is then driven so that the full bobbins pass beneath a station (26) where they are removed. The conveyor is then driven in the opposite direction and as the emptying tube receiving means pass beneath a station 25, empty tubs are placed thereon. The conveyor is then stopped when the empty tubs are spaced along the machine to await the next doffing and donning step.
