Abstract
1,146,723. Padlocks. LASSMAN LOCKS Ltd. 24 July, 1967 [26 Aug., 1966], No. 38501/66. Heading E2A. A padlock, such as a combination padlock, has its body 3 extended to form a socket in which one end of a cable 1 or chain is secured by swaging 4, and the cable or chain has one or more enlarged parts which may be locked by the shackle 8. The multi-strand steel cable shown is covered by a nylon sleeve 2 and has swaged or welded to its free end a collar 5 with one, or as shown two, bosses 7 of such a diameter that they are unable to pass through the shackle when it is locked. In another embodiment the free end of the cable has secured to it a hook for engagement over a control pedal of a motor car and the cable has a number of collars with bosses secured to it along its length so that it may be passed around a fixture in the car and then locked by the shackle at a selected point along its length to hold the cable taut and so prevent movement of the pedal.
