Abstract
1,145,466. Valves. ITT INDUSTRIES Inc. 14 July, 1967 [14 July, 1966; 23 Aug., 1966], No. 32461/67. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] A valve that allows regulated flow of hot or cold water to a heat exchanger (not shown) has a by-pass 8 taking water returning from the exchanger via inlet 6 to hot water outlet 5 so that the hot and cold water do not mix. In the position shown all the hot water entering inlet 4 flows to the exchanger via outlet 7 and back via inlet 6, by-pass 8 and outlet 5. When the spool is moved down to reduce the flow some of the hot water flows straight to outlet 5 through seat 15. After further downward movement to the central position of the spool, closures 11, 12 are both sealed and there is no flow to the heat exchanger. When the spool is moved downwardly again to permit cold water from inlet 3 to flow through the exchanger, closure 14 is seated and closure 9 opened to allow cold water returning from the heat exchanger via inlet 6 to flow through outlet 2.
