Reinforcing rods, for concrete, which are not rotationally symmetrical or which have local stress and/or hardness differences are twisted while under a tension below the yield point of the rods. Undulatory deformation of the rods is thus prevented. Rods having at least two oppositely situated groups of oblique ribs may be so twisted.
