Abstract

1,145,060. Double glazing units. T. FAULHABER and G. BECKMANN. 26 July, 1966 [31 July, 1965; 20 Jan., 1966], No. 33626/66. Heading E1R. A multi-glazing unit in which ray-absorbing liquid can flow into and out of the space 6 between adjacent panes, 3, 3a comprises liquid flow control means in the form of a hose or similar closed resilient hollow elements 7 disposed in a reservoir chamber 5 for the liquid and which is in direct communication with the space 6 and which directly adjoins the space 6. The hose 7 may be continuous or in separate parts each arranged to be put alternately as by pipe 10 in communication with a source of air or fluid under pressure and vacuum or low pressure. Fig. 1 shows reinforced laminated panes 2, 3 and 2a, 3a. Sealant 12 seals off the space 5 and the tube 10 is prevented from sagging lengthways by spaced anchoring screws 13 on strips 14. The unit may be enclosed in a surrounding frame which may be of hollow construction sealed to the panes and accommodate the elements 7, (Figs. 6-9). The unit may be provided with a sealed space which does not receive the ray absorbing liquid in addition to the space 6 which does receive the liquid.
