Abstract

1,144,989. Polyvinyl alcohol composition. UARCO Inc. 7 Aug., 1967, No. 36139/67. Heading C3P. [Also in Divisions C4 and D2] Transfer coating compositions for paper comprise water, a water-miscible binder, at least 50% by weight based on the binder weight of a normally liquid water-soluble surface-active agent of B.Pt. >100‹C., a pigment and, additionally, a finely divided clay filler (see Division C4). In Example IV the binder is polyvinyl alcohol and the other ingredients are a carbon black dispersion, TiO 2 , kaolin, and a liquid ethylene oxide-propylene glycol condensate as surfactant.
