Abstract

1,144,633. Venturi-scrubber. DAVIDSON & CO. Ltd. 10 June, 1966 [16 June, 1965], No. 25440/65. Heading B1R. A venturi-scrubber for cleaning dust-laden gas has water sprays 17 in a gas inlet section 11, vanes 22 to rotate gas and liquid passing through the throat-section 21 and in chamber 12 a series of interfitting frusto-conical elements 23, spaced apart to form annular passages therebetween and surrounded by baffle plates 27 the lower edges of which extend into but are above the level of liquid in a liquid discharge duct 29, clean gas leaving by an outlet 15. Water from sprays 17 may impinge upon a series of spaced-apart corrugated plates arranged in section 11 and water may be also introduced into the gas tangentially in the throat-section 21. The duct 29 discharges dust laden water into a settling tank 37 and water may also be fed into the tank from section 11 via a conduit 41. The apparatus may be mounted on skids 42.
