Abstract

1,144,555. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI S.p.A. 18 May, 1966 [18 June, 19651, No. 21981/66. Heading B7C. In a pneumatic tyre comprising a breaker formed of at least two strips 14, 15 of bias-laid parallel cord fabric folded along lines 16, 17 axially separated to form the breaker edges, the free ends of strip 14 being radially superposed over those of strip 15 over a zone having an axial width not exceeding two-thirds that of the breaker, the cords of the two strips make with the mid-circumferential plane angles differing by not less than 10 degrees. Preferably, one of the cord angles lies in the range 5-30 degrees and additional strips of cord fabric making a 45 degrees angle with the mid-plane may be inserted radially inwardly and/or outwardly of the folded strips. The sidewall 3 adjacent the fold line of the strip whose cords make the smaller angle may be reinforced by a strip 12 of hard rubber.
