Abstract
1,144,066. Walking beam conveyers for furnaces. TABOUGNAR A.B. 2 June, 1966 [28 Feb., 1966], No. 24658/66. Heading F4B. In a continuous metal heating furnace of the walking beam type the rate of forward movement of ingots 6 or the like in a preheating zone 1 and a final heating zone 2 is varied by having a fixed hearth of stepped beams higher at 3 in zone 1, the alternate walking beams 4 being raised by rollers 9 on pivoted support arms 10 to different heights whereby work in zone 2 may be moved without moving that in zone 1. The advancing and retracting movement of beams 4 on the rollers 9 is performed by conventional apparatus, e.g. an hydraulic motor. The various beams are provided with longitudinal ribs, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the fixed beams are level and the walking beams are stepped.
