Abstract

1,143,960. Bearings. H. E. G. ARNESON. 21 Sept., 1966, No. 42238/66. Heading F2A. A hydrostatic bearing comprises inner and outer members 110, 62 with part-spherical bearing surfaces, the bearing surface of the outer member being concave and having an annular recess 75a to which fluid is supplied. In Fig. 1 there are two such bearings, and fluid is supplied from common lines 81, 80 to branch lines 87, 88 opening into annular grooves 90, 91 in the respective recesses 75a, 76a. Fluid escaping from the recesses through clearances 75a, 76b enters annular grooves 96, 97 and clearance 106, and passes through lines 95, 98, 99 to outlet 100.
