Abstract

1,143,687. Road-traffic signalling apparatus. E. W. BLISS CO. 5 Dec., 1967 [7 Dec., 1966], 55202/67. Heading G4Q. [Also in Divisions H2 and H3] Simultaneous energization of load A and load B from a common A.C. supply V is prevented by an anti-coincidence circuit adapted to interrupt the A.C. supply. The loads may be road traffic signal lamps energized through respective switches S1 and S2, which may be relays or transistors, and each load circuit includes a bidirectional semi-conductor device 76 which is maintained conductive by oscillations from oscillator H. If both switches S1 and S2 are closed simultaneously, the A.C. supply is connected to rectifier 24 in units C and D, thereby making both transistors 10 conduct; this causes transistor 36 (unit F) to cut off and transistor 44 (unit G) to conduct, thereby preventing the RC oscillator H from oscillating. This prevents each SCR 72 in units I and J from conducting and thereby interrupts the A.C. supply through diode bridge 74 to the gate electrode 104 of the semi-conductor 76 which is therefore blocked and inhibits energization of the load.
