Abstract

1,143,287. Mounting printing plates. J. O. MIDDLETON. 26 Sept., 1966 [27 Jan., 1966]. No. 42886/66. Heading B6C. A flexible printing plate 4 is attached to a cylinder 1 through the intermediary of a flexible transparent backing sheet 14 which is stuck on the cylinder by a strip of adhesive 12 before the plate 4 is stuck to the backing sheet. The cylinder 1 has shoulders 7 and an indexing mark 10 such that the backing sheet may be guided into position on the cylinder through the use of the shoulders and may have an indexing mark applied thereto before the plate is mounted through the employment of the mark 10. The method of attachment illustrated in Fig. 4, also uses a basic sheet 30 which surrounds a major portion of the cylinder leaving a minor portion for the positioning of a strip 12 carrying adhesive on both sides.
