Abstract

1,143,060. Edge connector. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 11 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1735/68. Heading H2E. A female connector, particularly for a printed circuit board, comprises pairs of U- shaped contacts 6 for engaging connections on two sides of the board, the contact pressure of both being determined by a common spring 8 insulated by a film 9. The contacts may project from an insulating housing 3 with retaining cover 2 having a slot 11 for the insertion of the male connector, the cover being secured by co-operating detent members. Shoulders on the contacts limit the extent of their projection. The free ends of the contacts abut a central insulating strip 16 and each may be slit longitudinally. Each spring 8 has a projection 15 and is located in notch 14 of the casing. The insulating films 9 may extend the whole length of a row of contacts.
