Abstract

1,142,842. Illuminated walking sticks. H. W. MARKS. 21 Feb., 1966 [21 Nov., 1964], No. 47468/64. Heading F4R. [Also in Division A4] An illuminated walking stick comprises a tubular shaft 22 formed mainly from translucent plastics material, a lamp 26 mounted inside the handle or shaft, and a reflector 28 arranged to direct the light from the lamp axially along the shaft. Batteries 32 may be mounted in a portion 21 of the handle or in a separate pack adapted to be worn by the user and connected to the stick by a flexible cord. A thermal flasher may be provided in the pack. The shaft may contain a supporting rod 31 of plastics material, and ballotini may be used to fill the shaft or coat the rod. The ferrule of the stick may contain a concave reflector.
