Abstract

1,142,771. Flexible chamber pumps. MONSANTO CO. June 20, 1967 [June 28, 1966], No.28368/67. Heading F1A. A pump for providing one or more continuous small volume streams of liquid comprises flexible chamber 18, 20 actuated alternately with discharge overlap by a cam 46 and follower 48, and having resilient pinch valves 38, 40, 42, 44 in their inlet and discharge lines, the inlet valve 40 of chamber 20 and discharge valve 38 of chamber 18 being disposed in a fluid pressure chamber 8, and inlet valve 42 of chamber 18 and discharge valve 44 of chamber 20 being disposed in a chamber 10, and the chambers 8 and 10 being alternately pressurized with compressed air and vented by a timed solenoidtype valve 16 synchronized with cam 46 to change over the pressures in chambers 8 and 10 during the discharge overlap. Cam 46 has a discharge sector of 192 degrees, a dwell sector of 72 degrees and a suction sector of 96 degrees. Valve 16 may be controlled by a microswitch on the camshaft. A plurality of pumps may be driven by a common camshaft to provide a plurality of discharge streams, Fig. 2 (not shown). The inlets 26, 28 of chambers 18, 20 may communicate with separate sources.
