Abstract

1,142,716. Fragmentation projectiles. OERLIKON BUHRLE HOLDING A.G. 18 Oct., 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 47532/67. Heading F3A. The casing of an explosive fragmentation projectile comprises an outer sleeve 7 and an inner sleeve 8, the inside of the sleeve 7 and the outside of the sleeve 8 each being formed with at least one helical groove 6 forming predetermined fracture zones in the casing. The pitch of the groove or grooves in the sleeve 7 may differ from that of the groove or grooves in sleeve 8. The casing is filled with an explosive.
