Abstract

1,142,666. Polyurethane gels. GLANZSTOFF A.G. 24 May, 1967 [18 June, 1966], No. 24142/67. Heading C3R. [Also in Division B2] Gel for the production of a microporous coating comprises a polyurethane and a solvent therefor. A suitable polyurethane gel contains 15 to 35% of a linear polyurethane, 0 to 15% of one or more other polymers, 5 to 30% of a non solvent for polyurethanes and 20 to 80% of a solvent for polyurethanes in which the non solvent is at least partly soluble. The other polymers may be polyvinyl chloride, copolymers of vinyl chloride with maleic acid anhydride, vinyl acetate, butadiene-acrylonitrile or butadiene-styrene copolymers, chlorine rubber, nitro cellulose. In the examples, the gels comprise: (1), (2), 20% linear polyester polyurethane, 4% polyvinyl chloride, 6% ammonium nitrate, 70% dimethyl formamide; (3) 25% polyurethane, 5% of a copolymer of 80 parts vinyl chloride and 20 parts maleic acid anhydride, 10% water, 60% dimethylformamide; (4) as in (3) except that the vinyl chloride copolymer is replaced by nitrocellulose.
