Abstract

1,142,508. Pyrrole derivatives. WHITEFIN HOLDING S.A. 21 April, 1967 [27 April, 1966], No. 18424/66. Heading C2C. Novel pyrrole derivatives of the general formula wherein A is CO or CHOH, R 3 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical, and either R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl or aralkyl and R 1 is an alkyl radical, or R 2 taken together with R 1 , and the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, represent a saturated heterocyclic ring which may contain a further hetero atom and their acid addition or quaternary ammonium salts are prepared by reacting a haloketone of the formula wherein X is a halogen atom with the appropriate amine of the formula HNR 1 R 2 and reducing if desired the carbonyl group of the compound thus obtained. Compounds where R 2 is hydrogen are preferably made by the hydrogenalysis of the corresponding benzyl substituted compound. Therapeutic compositions, suitable for oral or parenteral administration, contain the above novel pyrrole derivatives or their physiologically tolerable acid addition or quaternary ammonium salts as the active ingredient. The compositions have pharmacological properties and are not very toxic.
