Abstract

114,203. Allen, J. J. March 26, 1917. Disk apparatus.-Apparatus for refacing valves, valve seats, &c. comprises a disk of corundum &c., or of steel faced with emery cloth, provided with means for centring it on the valve. The Figure shows a steel disk faced with emery cloth, secured by a ring L, into which is secured a tube C<2> fitted with a pointed spring plunger G<2>. For use in facing valve seats, a centring disk G<3> is screwed on the inner end of the tube. The disk is turned by means of a stem E<2> forked to engage a cross-pin in the tube and having its upper end squared for engagement with a crank brace &c. The Provisional Specification describes and illustrates forms of apparatus, without the centring- device, in which a ring of emery cloth is clamped between two metal rings screwed on the limbs of a forked stem ; and modifications for treating conical surfaces, internal and external.
