Abstract

1,141,705. Hydrostatic transmissions. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. 14 Feb., 1966 [30 April, 1965], No. 6335/66. Heading F2C. [Also in Division F1] In a hydrostatic transmission comprising a variable displacement rotating cylinder block axial piston pump 96 and an axial piston motor 98, the components subject to friction are lubricated and cooled by a supply of liquid under pressure fed via stationary central section 100, providing communication between the pump and motor cylinders, to axial shaft passageways 144 and 146. Liquid supplied to the axial passageways is fed via radial shaft passageways 148, 150, 154, 156, 158 to the shaft bearings 168, 170, radially outwardly through passages in the valve plates 102, 104, 109, 111, and along passageways formed in the spline connections 160, 162 between the shafts and the cylinder blocks to be directed over the slippers, slipper retaining means 140, 142, thrust plates 132, 134 and trunnion bearings (not shown) of the swash plate assemblies 124, 126. The liquid is supplied by a pump (184), Fig. 5 (not shown), from a reservoir (186) to which the liquid collecting in the transmission housing is returned.
