Abstract

1,140,101. Rotary pumps. BURMAN & SONS Ltd. May 8, 1967 [May 26, 1966], No.23541/66. Heading F1F. A rotary pump comprises a housing 10 having a chamber 11 eccentrically mounting a rotor 12 formed with a plurality (three) of recesses 13 within which are mounted vanes 14 having a dimension in the circumferential direction greater than in the radial direction. Each vane is of channel cross-section, formed with an aperture 14c at its leading end to permit pumped fluid to pass beneath it to assist sealing against the chamber wall and has a convexedly curved outer surface both circumferentially and parallel to the rotor axis. The vane ends have curved and plane portions to permit slight rocking and prevent jamming.
