[Also in Division E1] A mine roof support assembly for use with a face conveyer 6 comprises two frames 1, 2 each having two props connected by spring members which, by means of transverse members 3, 4, are connected to a guiding and shifting device 5 for moving one frame relative to the other, the outer end of the transverse member 4 being extended to support an advancing unit 7. The conveyer 6 is engaged by a pulley 10 having an eccentric groove 10a, the pulley being mounted on the piston of the unit 7 and also engaging a cable 11 which may be tensioned by rotation of the pulley. The cable limits movement of the pistonrod of the unit 7 longitudinally of the conveyer 6. The height at which the pulley engages the conveyer is adjustable, Fig. 3 (not shown), and a support (14, 15) for the conveyer end of the unit 7 is provided. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), spring connections (5, 6) between props (1) are in the form of a cross. The extension (12) of a transverse member (9) is adjustably clamped to the advancing cylinder (23) of which pivoting in a horizontal plane may be limited by a stirrup (25). In Fig. 9 (not shown), at each end of a transverse member 7 there is pivotally attached an advancing unit 11 of which a piston member 13 is adapted to engage in a sleeve 14 when the conveyer is to be advanced. By providing a cable 15 connecting the two piston members 13, the support assembly may be pulled up to the conveyer.
