Abstract

1,139,887. Propylene polymer compositions. UNION CARBIDE CORP. 10 Feb., 1966, No. 5839/66. Heading C3P. Compositions comprise a propylene polymer and as sole additional polyolefin component 3 to 15 parts by weight per hundred parts of propylene polymer of a polyethylene resin having a density of 0.88 to 0.93 gm./c.c. at 25‹ C. and a melt index of greater than 25 decigrams per minute. The propylene polymer may be a predominantly isotactic polypropylene or a copolymer of propylene with olefinically unsaturated comonomers, e.g. vinyl aromatic compounds, e.g. vinyl esters, ketones and ethers, acrylic and α-substituted acrylic acids, esters, amides and nitriles, maleic and fumaric esters, ethyl methylene malonate, vinyl and vinylidene halides and vinyl heterocyclic compounds. The polyethylene may be a high melt index polyethylene or pyrolysed polyethylene resin. The compositions may also comprise pigments, fillers and stabilizers, and may be slot cast, melt extruded or blow extruded to form films.
