Abstract

1,138,875. Folding box blanks. J. BOBST ET FILS S.A. 30 Aug., 1966 [31 Aug., 1965], No. 38638/66. Heading B5D. [Also in Division B8] A machine for folding blanks of cardboard or paper or the like comprises a suction conveying member driven with a rectilinear motion during part of which the blank is also rotated in its own plane, and a guiding surface parallel to and immediately above the said member to prevent lifting of any already folded part of the blank. A number of suction members 13 are connected by a flexible web 16 to form a chain driven endless conveyer carrying blanks beneath a transparent guide plate 15. Suction is applied to the members 13 from vacuum chambers in the guide rails 20 through spring-loaded ball valves, successively opened as the member travels along the rails. Cam bars 33, 34, Fig. 7, contact followers 32 which cause the rotary member 14 of the member 13 to rotate, carrying the blank with it.
