Abstract

1,138,736. Shovelling machines. MASSEYFERGUSON-PERKINS Ltd. 2 Aug., 1967 [9 Aug., 1966], No. 35519/66. Heading E1F. In a material handling machine, e.g. a shovel loader, having a boom raised and lowered by at least one hydraulic rant and a bucket or like implement pivotally mounted on the boom by a further hydraulic ram, the bucket and a control lever therefor are automatically restored to positions suitable for commencement of digging on lowering of the boom. The control lever is operatively connected to the bucket ram and a bucket reset means is mounted between the bucket and lever which is operable to move the lever automatically to a neutral position when the bucket reaches a predetermined position during movement from its dumping to its digging position. The lever is moved by a 'kick-valve' connected in a hydraulic circuit with a reset valve which is operatively connected to the bucket so that on movement of the lever to a position to move the bucket from a damping to a digging position a predetermined amount of movement of the bucket activates the reset valve which connects the 'kick-valve' to a tapping from the high pressure end of the bucket ram and so restores the lever to neutral.
