Abstract

1,138,690. Portable containers; container closures. PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd. 24 Oct., 1967 [24 Oct., 1966], No. 47550/66. Headings B8D and B8T. An outer container 1 encloses one or more inner containers 2, discharge holes 5, 6 in a wall 4 being closed by a common valve 8. In the form shown, the valve comprises a rotary disc 8 with a central journal socket, having various apertures so arranged that they may close both discharge holes 5, 6, open one or the other, or open both simultaneously, Fig. 3 (not shown). The containers 1, 2 may be made of metals, glass or flexible plastics. In the latter case, the containers 1, 2 may be blow-moulded, and the wall 4 injection moulded. The wall 4 may be spunwelded or screwed into the outer container 1. The valve 8 &c. may alternatively be located in the side of the container 1. The valve 8 may be sealed by means of integral moulded protuberant rings between the disc and the wall 4, or by resilient sealing members. The valve disc 8 may have pouring lips, detents &c. to retain it in desired angular positions, or several apertures as in a sprinkler.
