Abstract

1,138,580. Movable targets for shooting. R. K. PARKER. 29 Nov., 1967, No. 54355/ 67. Addition to 987917. Heading A6D. A target for projection through the air comprises a hollow body 1 adapted to be charged with a gas and provided with an outlet 4 at one end through which the gas subsequently issues to propel the target forward. The body 1 preferably comprises a casing 2 of cardboard and a plastic lining 5 which is closed at one end 6, and the other end has a small aperture 7 which is closed by a rupturable seal 8. A blank cartridge 9 fits in the outlet 4. A compartment 10 is provided at the opposite end of the shell and contains a coloured powder. A launching device comprises a platform 12 to which is fixed a lug 13 which is connected to a support post 19 fixed to a base 22. The platform 12 may have a breech member comprising a bracket 23 fixed to it in which is a slot 24 to receive the cartridge. A plate having a cylinder 28 fixed thereto is fixed to the bracket 23. One end of the cylinder is closed but contains an axial clearance hole for a rod 29 and a plunger 30 which is mounted at one end thereof. The plunger can be retracted against the action of a spring 31 by a knob 32. A pin 33 is arranged to strike the cap of the cartridge. The plunger 30 may be released by a trigger 35 which is held in position by a leaf spring 39.
