Abstract

1,138,055. Offset rotary printing machines. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. 21 Aug., 1967 [3 Sept., 1966], No. 39493/66. Heading B6C. A reversible rotary web offset printing unit having a printing cylinder 10, a blanket cylinder 11 and an impression cylinder 12 coupled by reversible driving gear, incorporates swingable damping roller means 15 which act upon the printing cylinder 10 when a web 13 passes between the cylinders 11 and 12 in the direction shown in Fig. 1, and which act upon the blanket cylinder 11 when the web moves in the opposite direction. A reversible perfecting printing press, Fig. 4, has coacting blanket cylinders 30, 31 and respective swingable damping means 34, 35. The specification also describes a printing machine in which the unit of Fig. 1 is in series connection with a multi-colour offset unit having four spaced blanket cylinders co-acting with a single impression cylinder. A further embodiment shows the units of Figs. 1 and 4 in series connection with the multicolour unit.
