Abstract

1,136,899. Hollow closed concrete articles. S. A KONNBERG. 21 Feb., 1967 [2 March, 1966], No. 8309/67. Heading B5A. Hollow closed concrete articles, e.g. vessels, containers and tanks for holding liquids are formed by casting concrete in the space between an outer mould (1) and an inner mould up to level (4) to form the base (2) and side walls (3). Reinforcement (5) may be provided in the concrete. The top edge (6) of the wall is then preferably chamfered using a mould ring, the inner core and mould ring are removed and a concrete slab (7) containing lifting lugs (8) cast into the slab and optionally a manhole (9) and having a chamfered edge to correspond with edge (6) is lowered into position on top of the walls (3). The concrete slab (7) is suspended from beam 10 by the lugs 8 and its position is adjustable by screws 12 which coact with the outer mould (1). Reinforcing rods 15 are fitted if required, attached to the reinforcement 5 of the side walls, and concrete is poured on to the top so that it bonds with the unset concrete of the walls 3 forming an integral object.
