[Also in Division F1] A liquid fuel injection pump comprises a throttle member (not shown) the setting of which determines the quantity of fuel supplied by the pump, a centrifugal or other governor system for moving the throttle member to reduce the fuel supply in opposition to a governor spring 12, a first operator adjustable member 13 movable to vary the force exerted by the governor spring 12 and a fluid pressure operable stop member 15 the setting of which determines the permitted extent of movement of the member 13 and valve means 23 for controlling the application of fluid pressure to the stop member controlled by a second operator adjustable member 25. The member 25 is connected to the control lever of change-speed gear of a motor vehicle so that when the vehicle change-speed gear is in its higher or highest ratios the valve 23 is as shown and the stop member 15 is moved by the spring 17 to a reduced engine output position. When the change-speed gear is moved from its higher or highest ratios the cable 25 moves the valve spool to the left interconnecting the hydraulic fluid inlet 26 and the underside of the stop, thereby raising the member 15 and permitting the roller 21 of the member 13 to engage the face 20 of the stop member 15 to permit an increased fuel supply. The valve spool may alternatively be operated by a solenoid or hydraulically.
