Abstract

1,135,298. Hairdressing compositions. COOPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY Ltd. 13 Sept., 1967 [20 Sept., 1966], No. 42043/66. Heading A5B. A clear transparent gel hairdressing for the alleviation of dry rough scalp conditions comprises an oil-in-water gel containing water, a colourless, odourless mineral oil, an alkyl ester of a fatty acid in which the alkyl group contains up to 6 carbon atoms, at least one watersoluble emulsifier, and propane -1,2-diol. The water soluble emulsifier may be a mixture of ethoxylated oleyl alcohols e.g. polyoxyethylene alkyl ethers of oleyl alcohol having degrees of ethoxylation of from 5 to 20 moles of ethylene oxide per mole of oleyl alcohol. The mineral oil may have a viscosity of from 100 to 850 seconds Redwood No. 1 at 70‹F. and the fatty acid ester can be the isopropyl ester of a fatty acid, e.g. linoleic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid or stearic acid. The compositions may also contain lanolin, colouring and/or perfume.
