Abstract

1,134,966. Heating air for combustion. ALCORN COMBUSTION CO.. 20. July, 1967, No. 33369/67. Heading F4B. Air for combustion in the burners of a tubulous fluid heating furnace, in particular a furnace for the catalytic reforming of hydrocarbons, is heated by heat transfer coils 7-in the air inlet passages fed from a heat exchanger 4 in a convection space 22 above the radiant heating spaces 13. The heat exchanger 4 and coils 7 form a closed circuit containing a suitable heat transfer fluid. Each burner has its own air inlet passage witha separate heat transfer coil 7, the coils 7 being connected in parallel.
