Abstract

1,134,453. Mixing apparatus. NAUCHNO ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT TEKHNOLOGII AVTOMOBILNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTL 11 Jan., 1967, .No. 1527/67. Heading B1C. Apparatus for mixing a refractory slurry comprises an intermediate mixer 4 for the liquid constituents which are supplied from constant level tanks 5,'and a mixer 3 for adding the solid constituents comprising two vertical tanks connected at the bottom at C and having agitators 27,. vertical baffles 31 and discharge outlets 24, 25 for batch and continuous operation respectively. The solid is supplied by an endless belt weighing conveyer 17 suspended from a balance which actuates a pneumatic device 19 to adjust the gate 15 in order to maintain a constant supply rate. The intermediate mixer (see also Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) comprises a tank (9) with a vertical partition (P), liquids being supplied to the top .of one chamber,. (a) in which is the agitator 13, passing under the partition at 10 and being discharged .at the top of .the chamber (b). Batches may be prepared by opening the valves 8 and operating the conveyers 16, 17 for a preselected time under control of a timing device (30, Fig, 4 not shown).
