Abstract
1,134,372. Rollers for conveyer belts. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. 19 July, 1967 [28 July, 1966; 2 Sept., 1966], No. 33072/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F2] A conveyer belt roller has a running-surface in the form of a hyperboloidal solid of revolution, the roller comprising a plurality of elongate members arranged in a circle and extending inwards from the ends of the roller so as to meet in an arrowhead formation. In Fig. 1, belt-supporting pairs of members 5a, 5b extend from end discs 2, 3 to an intermediate disc 4 but, at the end discs, are offset from the points of attachment on the disc 4 such that pairs of members meet at the disc 4 arrowhead-fashion. The elongate members may be of steel, rubber or plastics and may be in one or two parts. If the members are of resilient material they may be releasably secured in the discs 2, 3, 4 for renewal, Fig. 3. When the track of the conveyer belt is curved, tendency of the belt to be displaced sideways off the rollers is balanced by thrust generated by fitting the elongate members on each side of the apex at different angles, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). In Figs. 7, 8 (not shown) this result is achieved by offsetting the apex, i.e. the intermediate disc, from the centre.
