Abstract

1,134,070. Boots &c. ZAVODY PRESNEHO STROJIRENSTVI GOTTWALDOV NARODNI PODNIK. 22 June, 1966 [30 June, 1965], No. 27948/66. Heading A3B. [Also in Division B2] Thermo reactive adhesive is applied to the insole of a shoe in bands parallel to the edge of the insole by extruding the adhesive from nozzles 26, 26<SP>1</SP> which are moved longitudinally along the shoe by a chain 4 whilst being moved laterally by arms 60, 60<SP>1</SP> having rollers 59, 59<SP>1</SP> which engage in shaped tracks 56<SP>1</SP>, 57<SP>1</SP> in links 56, 57. The nozzles, complete with reservoirs 17, 17<SP>1</SP> containing adhesive, are moved by rotation of a sprocket 3 which moves a chain 4 having a drawbar 5 which engages a pawl 8 to move the adhesive applying assembly. The adhesive is pumped from the reservoirs 17, 17<SP>1</SP> by pistons 24, 24<SP>1</SP> moved by a lever arrangement which is actuated by rollers 35, engaged in inclined slots in a stationary link 36, the rollers being caused to move vertically as the adhesive applying assembly is moved by the chain 4. The length and spacing of the bands can be varied to suit different shoe sizes by rotation of a screw 51. This simultaneously shifts the position of the link 36 to change the position at which the pistons 24, 24<SP>1</SP> start to move, shifts the position of a stepped cam 40 which disengages the pawl 8 from the drawbar 5 to stop movement of the adhesive apply assembly, and also shifts a rack 50 which rotates bolts 47, 48 to move the links 56, 57 apart.
