Abstract

1,134,066. Drawing. SCHUMAG SCHUMACHER METALLWERKE G.m.b.H. 18 April, 1966 [17 April, 1965], No. 16967/66. Heading B3P. A mechanism for reciprocating the drawing carriage of a drawing machine comprises at least one rotatable cam element having two cam surfaces, the element passing between two cam follower rollers mounted in the drawing carriage in a common plane, the one behind the other in the direction of the reciprocating movement of the drawing carriage, each of the cam surfaces co-operating with one of the cam follower rollers whereby rotation of the cam element causes reciprocation of the drawing carriage. One of the rollers, 2, is supported by a bearing 4 which is rigidly mounted in the slide 1, the other of the rollers, 3, is supported by a bearing which is mounted in a lever 5. The lever is pivoted to the slide at 6 and is acted on by an adjustable compression spring 7. The two cam profiles are formed on opposite sides of a peripheral rib 11, 11<SP>1</SP> on a cam cylinder. The axial thickness of the rib varies so that as the cam angle increases the rib thickness diminishes so that the distance between the rollers is substantially constant. The working stroke of the carriage is effected by the cam profile engaged by the roller 2 and the return stroke by the cam profile engaged by the roller 3.
