Abstract

1,133,692. Lubricants. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 11 Sept., 1967 [11 Jan., 1967], No. 1540/67. Heading C5F. A lubricant comprises a major proportion of an ester oil and minor proportions each of a triaryl phosphorothionate and a triaryl phosphate, the ratio of phosphate to phosphorothionate being not less than 0À25 : 1. Triphenyl-, tritolyl-, tribenzyl-, trixylyl-, and diphenyltolyl-phosphates and phosphorothionates are specified. The ester oil may be a diester, complex ester or polyester (specific examples being given). The composition may also contain polyacrylic esters, e.g. poly-lauryl methacrylate, polyglycol ethers, chlorinated di- or polyphenyls, mono-chloromethyl phosphoric acid salts of tertiary alkyl primary amines, substituted phenothiazines, aromatic amines, alkylated phenols and bisphols, 1,2,3- and 1,2,4-triazoles, carboxylic acids, petroleum sulphonates and polydimethyl siloxanes (examples of most of these additives are given). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,036,695.
