Abstract

1,132,637. Elastomer springs. RENAK WERKE VEB. 13 Sept., 1966, No. 40820/66. Heading F2S. A shock-absorber leg for a motor cycle comprises a hollow body 4 of plastics or resilient material wherein the ratio of the largest outer diameter D of the spring to the smallest inner diameter d thereof is from 2À0 to 3À5 and the ratio of the spring length l to the smallest inner diameter d is from 2À0 to 8À0, a cylindrical or conical end of the hollow body engaging in a frusto-conical recess 3 of a support member 2 and being held by the conical lateral surfaces of the recess 3 during compression of the body. The upper region 6 of the spring body 4 is a sliding fit on a piston-rod 7 of the shockabsorber, the remaining length of the body 4 being spaced from the rod 7 by a clearance 8. The lower end of the body may also slidingly fit the rod 7 and the whole of the body may be of frusto-conical shape.
