Abstract

113,233. Taylor, Tunnicliff & Co., and Cooper, P. Aug. 31, 1917 Stationary-mould machines; punching and perforating machines; pressing plungers and dies.- In moulding plastic substances, particularly pierced articles such as porcelain bead insulators adapted to be strung upon a bare wire or conductor, a slab or blank of plastic material is placed upon the bottom die-member 16 and the plunger 4 is lowered. The plastic material is forced into the dies 5 until the die plate 1 meets the bottom plate 16. The plunger 4 continues its downward path and forces perforating pins 10 through the material, the die plate 1 and ejector sleeves 6 meanwhile remaining stationary. In lifting the plunger, the pins 10 are first withdrawn, the whole plunger and its attachments are then raised together until the stop-pins 13 meet the cross member 14, when the ejector sleeves will be held stationary while the die plate continues its upward motion, the moulded articles being thus ejected.
