Abstract

1,131,650. Printing yarns. J. P. CRUMP. 7 Sept., 1967 [10 Sept., 1966], No. 40514/66. Heading B6C. In a yarn printing machine, the yarn emerges in sinuous form from a reciprocating coiling mechanism B on to an endless conveyer A by which it is passed beneath two rows of inking nozzles d<SP>3</SP> and d<SP>4</SP> arranged transversely over the conveyer, each row depositing a different colour on the coiled yarn and the nozzles of the rows being staggered to print the yarn in alternate stripes. A second conveyer A<SP>1</SP> passes the printed yarns to a fixing device either before or after drawing the yarn for winding into package form. In a modified machine three reciprocating coilers are arranged transversely of the conveyer, two colour printing being effected by two parallel staggered rows of printing rollers. In yet a third embodiment the coiled yarn is passed between the lower and upper flights of two superposed endless conveyers, cooperating pairs of printing and impression rollers being located such that -the former is below the said upper flight whilst the latter is above the lower flight. The printing rollers rotate in ink fountains.
