Headings B8C and B8F, [Also in Division B5] In a machine for " mitre "-folding labels (see Division B5), a folded label is removed from a folding and pressing station 32 by a take-off mechanism 33 comprising a gripper 148, Figs. 1 and 12, having a jaw 164 normally closed by a spring 165 and mounted on an arm 149 which is swung upwards to the station 32. Strips 107 of a label support are displaced and the gripper 148 closes on to the folded label and the gripper and label together move towards a magazine 166 through arcuate guides 145. Rods between presser blocks 120 and the guides 145 ensure that the ends of the folded label do not sag out of register with the guides 145. The gripper 148 releases the label at the entrance to the magazine 166 and continues to move downwardly to clear this entrance so that the label is deposited on strips 167. Pusher plates 188 are rapidly reciprocated to push the label between serrated strips 170, 171 so that it is held as one of a horizontal stack.
