Abstract

1,129,944. Pallet loading machines; endless conveyers. CARL DROHMANN G.m.b.H. 1 May, 1967 [12 May, 1966], No. 19920/67. Headings B8A and B8C. An apparatus for stacking objects G, e.g. packages, on a pallet P comprises a supply device 2, having a selectively operable turning device (not shown) and a number of stops (not shown) that project into the outlet of the supply device in accordance with a predetermined programme, so that a package or group of packages collects on the supply device before a feeder 17 pushes it on to a conveyer 51 that moves intermittently to space the packages. Adjustable spacers 21 are lowered to retain the packages in spaced relation while the conveyer moves from under them. A lift 26 then moves down ready for the next layer of packages to be arranged on top. The conveyer 51 may have a pair of chains 54 across which slats 55 are arranged preferably in two groups forming a pair of spaced platforms. Some of the slats 55 may have cams 59 that operate a switch 60 to control the intermittent movement of the conveyer 51. Alternatively the movement may be controlled by photo-electric or inductive scanning means and the conveyer 51 may be a steel strip with transverse stiffening ribs.
