Abstract
1,128,954. Bi-stable circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 12 Jan., 1966 [5 Feb., 1965], No. 1455/66. Heading H3T. A bi-stable circuit comprises two reciprocally coupled transistors with Zener diodes in series with ordinary diodes as coupling impedances which provide a high impedance from the output of the conducting device to the input of the cutoff device and a low impedance on the other side. In Fig. 3 the coupling impedances comprise diodes 55, 56 and Zener diodes 43, 44 optionally shunted by capacitors 45, 46 to increase the switching speed. The Zener diodes automatically switch between their conducting and cut-off or nearly cut-off states as the transistors 41, 42 change over, and thus provide adequate base current for the conducting transistor while preserving a high input impedance for the input circuit. Resistors 57, 58 and Zener diodes 43, 44 provide base currents which are independent of the loads 49, 60. The Specification also describes a circuit in which the diodes 55, 56 and resistors 57, 58 are omitted (Fig. 2, not shown).
