Abstract

1,128,717. Shock absorbers. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 21 April, 1967, No. 18416/67. Heading F2S. [Also in Divisions B7 and E1] A shock-absorber comprises a water-filled self-supporting polythene or rubber bag which deforms on impact and causes plugs 4 and water to be ejected. The shock-absorber so formed could be employed in a vehicle bumper or a crash barrier, and different plugs may be arranged to blow out at different pressures to give a desired rate of collapse to the bag.
