Abstract
1,127,441. Vehicle unloading ramps. HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION Ltd. 23 Sept., 1965 [23 Sept., 1964], No. 38799/64. Heading B8E. Freight loads are transferred from one level to another such as in unloading an aircraft as described by placing two rails 16 on a ramp sill 17 further apart than the maximum width of a load 14 or its carrying platform 15 to which wheels 21 are temporarily attached at the end which leads as the load is lowered on the rails. The lowering or raising is effected by a winch cable 20 attached to the non wheeled end of the load which as it is moved free of the sill 17 can be lowered down through the rails 16. Roller conveyers are provided on the cargo floor 12 and on the lower door 24 which forms a continuation during loading and heavy duty rollers 22 are mounted on the ramp sill 17 to assist the non-wheeled end of the load to pass over it. Roller conveyers 19 may be provided on the ground under the rails 16 so that as the load is lowered it rests thereon.
