Abstract

1,127,149. Rotor supported and driven amphibious vehicle. ISHIKAWAJIMA-HARIMA JUKOGYO K.K. 15 Dec., 1966 [17 Dec., 1965], No. 56183/66. Headings B7A and B7V. In an amphibious vehicle including a floatable body a front pair of rotors 2, 2<SP>1</SP> on opposite sides of the central axial plane of the body and a rear pair of rotors 2<SP>11</SP>, 2<SP>111</SP> also on opposite sides of said axial plane, the rotors having a helical fin 3 extending around them, the fin on one of the front rotors and the fin on the rear rotor on the other side of the axial plane is of righthanded screw-threaded form whilst the fin on the other front rotor and the other rear rotor are of left-handed screw-threaded form. Driving means are provided whereby each rotor can be rotated in either direction independently of the other rotors, so that the vehicle can be moved ahead or sideways, and turned. A suitable transmission is disclosed in Specification 1,127,150.
