[Also in Division HI] A method of securing at least one metal component to an article made of or containing a synthetic resinous composition comprises interposing between the metal component or components and the composition an adhesive comprising a cross-linkable nylon which is soluble in an organic solvent having a boiling- point of less than 130‹ C., a cross-linking agent for the nylon and a solvent for the nylon, and consolidating the resulting assembly and curing the adhesive. The metal component may be in the form of sheets, foils, tubes, wires and blocks. The article may comprise a resin per se, a porous substrate, e.g. paper, woven nylon fabric, glass fibre felt or glass fibre fabric impregnated with a resin, e.g. phenolformaldehyde resin, melamine formaldehyde resin or polyvinyl chloride or it may comprise a porous substrate which is impregnated with the nylon composition and self-bonded to the metal component(s). Specified nylons are a copolymer of #-caprolactam, hexamethylene diammonium adipate and hexamethylene diammonium sebacate and alkoxy alkyl substituted nylons. Specified cross-linking agents are polyepoxides, polyisocyanates and peroxides. Catalysts, e.g. diamino diphenyl methane or dicyandiamide are preferably present. In preferred embodiments a glass or cotton fabric or paper is impregnated with a nylon-epoxide resin adhesive and interposed between an electrically resistive metal foil and aluminium. The products are suitable for use in the manufacture of printed circuits.
